Job Description: Engagement and Events Officer
Location: Cove Sailing Club and Work From Home

Overview:
Cove Sailing Club is seeking a dynamic and proactive Engagement and Events Officer to drive community engagement, develop partnerships, and an engagement plan for the period 2024-2028.
This role will involve collaborating with schools, local groups, organisations, and Live Argyll to promote the club's activities and initiatives. This will work hand in hand with the development of the new clubhouse. The Engagement and Events Officer will work closely with the board and volunteers to support the implementation of this year's events while contributing to the development of a long-term engagement strategy to reach more diverse groups.
We would ideally like this person to be based locally and be passionate about development in the local area. Although the focus of this position is to increase club participation it is also about exploring future opportunities for income generation and fundable programmes of activity.
We are interested in promoting inclusivity in water sports, community cohesion and volunteer development. We are also interested in ensuring the financial sustainability of Cove Sailing Club to enable us to expand and continue these activities.
This role is funded by the UK Government Leveling Up via the Community Ownership Fund.
Responsibilities:
1. Community Engagement:
- Initiate and maintain relationships with local schools, community groups, and organisations to promote Cove Sailing Club's activities and engage with diverse groups.
- Act as a liaison between the club and Live Argyll and other regional organisations, exploring opportunities for collaboration and community outreach.
2. Partnership Development:
- Identify and develop partnerships with organisations and businesses that align with Cove Sailing Club's mission and values.
- Collaborate with partners to co-create initiatives and events that benefit both the club and the community.
3. Event Planning and Execution:
- Develop and implement a comprehensive events plan for the years 2024-2028, focusing on increasing participation and diversity.
- Coordinate logistics, marketing, and promotion for club events, ensuring smooth execution and maximum impact.
4. Board and Volunteer Support:
- Work alongside the board and volunteers to gather input and feedback on engagement and events initiatives.
- Provide support and guidance to volunteers involved in event planning and execution.
5. Engagement Strategy:
- Develop a long-term strategy for engaging with more diverse groups, including underrepresented communities and individuals with disabilities.
- Implement measures to ensure inclusivity and accessibility in all club activities and events.
Qualifications:
- Proven experience in community engagement, event planning, and partnership development.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage with a diverse range of stakeholders.
- Knowledge of the local community and familiarity with relevant organisations and resources.
- Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion, with a passion for fostering community connections and engagement.
