New Clubhouse Project
At Cove Sailing Club, we’ve spent nearly 100 years at the heart of our community, offering a space where people of all ages and backgrounds can experience the joy of sailing and the great outdoors. Now, we’re embarking on an ambitious journey to build a brand-new clubhouse that will preserve our maritime heritage for future generations, while creating an inclusive, vibrant hub for everyone to enjoy.
Now We Need Your Help!
We have been very fortunate to be successful in raising £685,000 from the Community Ownership fund, Cove Sailing Club‘s own fundraising, Argyll & Bute Council, Sports Scotland and the Loch Long Owners Association.
This fundraising will allow us to meet our overall target.
Our Vision
Our vision is simple: to create a space that serves not only as a home for our sailors but as a community centre for everyone. The new clubhouse will be accessible to all, fully equipped with an inclusive kitchen to provide food, spaces for community events, and areas for training and learning. It will be a place where we can continue to offer our free twice-weekly sailing lessons to over half of the local cadet-aged children, teach life skills, and share the rich maritime history of the Loch Long boats.
Why We Need Your Support
The money we raise will go directly towards making this vision a reality. Your support will help us build the clubhouse, equip the kitchen, create accessible changing areas, and maintain our children's woodland play area. It will allow us to continue our much-loved community initiatives, like our Sunday Scran—free monthly meals that bring locals together for food and fun activities. It will also help us keep providing free sailing lessons and training opportunities for all ages.
Cove Sailing Club has a proud history of preserving the unique Loch Long One Design boats, a heritage that dates back to the 1930s. These boats are an integral part of our identity, and this new clubhouse will ensure that their legacy lives on for future generations. Our efforts to maintain and race these boats reflect our commitment to Scotland’s maritime history, and we want to pass this on to the next generation of sailors.
Building for the Next 100 Years
This project is about more than just bricks and mortar—it’s about building a future. With your help, we can make Cove Sailing Club a place that’s ready for the next 100 years. We’re creating partnerships with organisations across Scotland, within and outside the sailing community, to ensure our new clubhouse is a beacon of inclusivity, activity, and tradition. Whether you're a sailor, a local, or someone who cares about community, this is a space for everyone.
